Production Department

Production department is the core of WSIA. From Music to Underwriting, we work with all departments and play an important role in the recording and airing of all pre-recorded material. Production creates all of the interesting spots you hear. Everyday we work to keep the sound of the station new and fresh. As you can guess, this department's work is never done.

The Production Room is a veritable sound magician's toolbox. Our Pro-Tools based studio, with all digital recording, allows the department to work its magic on all audio within ears reach - including voiceovers and live performances! The Production Room changes with the next wave of technology so you never know what new piece of audio equipment you will find next within this revolutionary recording realm.

Our team has taken on the challenge of producing radio dramas and plays. In 2004, we recorded a rendition of "A Christmas Carol" that is currently a finalist in a national college radio production competition. Each year, WSIA will strive to repeat and achieve that goal and stay on top of our radio game. With a student trained staff of technicians, there is no job too big or too small that we won't tackle.

In addition to entertainment and sound quality duties, Production helps to keep the community informed about local events. We record Public Service Announcements, Local Weekly Announcements, Sweepers (the ID of the Station), Station Promotions, Night Works (our weekly concert calendar), and any other fundamental piece of audio you think a recording studio can create!

Production is constantly taking strides to put WSIA on top, with the enthusiasm from our listeners and staff, we will continue to strive for that goal. We can work hand in hand to make the sound of the station that more professional and amazing! Without this department, others in the station could not function. Production truly is the life of the radio station.
